If you are looking for a fast paced, action oriented, don't blink or you'll miss something movie, then
Quantum of Solace, the 23rd installment in the James Bond series will not disappoint.  If you are looking for a continuation of the Daniel Craig 'James Bond', a three dimensional person rather than a cartoon like character, then purchase that big bag of popcorn for this movie.  If you are looking for Bond gadgets, Bond girls, and a Roger Moore style plot, then you better head to your local video store.

Quantum of Solace introduces us to a man hurting from the death of his love, Vesper Lynd, in Casino Royale ("5 Bags" Rating = 4.5 Bags).  And boy does he take out that pain on everyone who crosses his path.  There are few people still breathing after taking on our hero in this movie.  The movement from one action scene to the next gives the movie a somewhat herky jerky feel and leaves you almost tired at the end.  Daniel Craig and Olga Kurylenko in Quantum of SolaceThroughout the movie, 'M', played once again by Judi Dench, tries to reign in our globe trotting friend and keep him from killing every one of the vague and varied cast of bad guys he encounters, as well as himself.  This includes the main bad guy, 'Dominic Greene', played by Mathieu Amalric.

Our Bond girl in this movie, 'Camille', played by Olga Kurylenko, is as pretty as they come and is on her own path of vengeance that happens to cross Bond's path.  Together they travel a shared path towards retribution and little stops them along the way, unfortunately that is all they share and this leaves you wanting a little more.  Bond's only break from the tough job of saving the world is an encounter with the delightful 'Agent Fields' played by Gemma Arterton.

For complete disclosure I must admit that I have always been a fan of the James Bond franchise.  There are few things more enjoyable on a cold winter afternoon than flipping through the channels and finding a James Bond movie.  The gadgets, the Bond girls, and the just shy of comic book feel always make a Bond movie fun to watch.  But after six (6) less than exciting movies with Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan at the helm, I, like many Bond fans, was ready for a change and got it big time with the addition of Daniel Craig.  Quantum of Solace is in high gear from the opening scene and has a   g-force that will keep you pushed back into your seat all the way to the end.  My wife who also enjoys a good James Bond movie was equally captivated by the intensity, incredible camera work and colors.  However, a somewhat vague story line does make this movie hard to follow.  Quantum of Solace is a good follow-up to Casino Royale and continues to introduce us to the Daniel Craig 'James Bond'.  The groundwork has been set for many more 'James Bond' movies with Daniel Craig.
The "5 Bags of Popcorn" Rating is 3.5 Bags.
