A Presidential Inauguration

Every four years the world is witness to an event that is truly American, the Inauguration of the President of the United States.  It may be a time of Peace or time of War, the Economy may be Strong or Weak, but the American people rally around an American citizen, a Democrat or Republican, who takes an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama will take this oath and become the 43rd person to lead the nation as President of the United States.  All Americans should be proud of this moment and for at least this short period of time put aside their political differences and join together in celebration of this American event.

We at Cube Think are following the events leading up to the Inauguration and hope you are too.  Listed below are a number of articles that can help you follow the Inauguration and hopefully educate you about this event as well.  If there are any other articles that you find interesting, we would appreciate it if you would forward them to us at  comments@cubethink.com.

The Oath of Office

At 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20th, President-elect Barack Obama will lay his left hand on the same Inaugural Bible used by Abraham Lincoln and take the Oath of Office.  Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, will administer the Oath.  As spelled out by the Constitution, Mr. Obama will recite the following Oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me God."

I recently visited Washington D.C. with my family and had an opportunity to view the document that makes the United States the wonderful country that it is.
